How to read the index
The water drops lowest on spring tides, a few days after new and full Moon. That is when the most rock pools and reef are exposed.
Go out an hour before low water and head back before the flood cuts you off. Only collect shellfish where the sanitary status is good, and check it with the official service.
Do not miss the next window
The best windows last a few hours: after a storm, after rain, on a clear night with an active Sun. Sign up and we will email you when the index at your spots goes above 60.

FAQ
What is rockpooling?
Exploring the life in pools left on rocks at low tide: crabs, anemones, starfish, prawns. Put rocks back as you found them and leave animals where they are.
Can I collect mussels from the shore?
In many countries yes, within limits and only where the sanitary status is good. Shellfish can carry toxins, so always check the current notice. You may not sell them without licences.
Does the Baltic have tides?
Hardly. Baltic water levels change mainly with wind and pressure, so this forecast covers ocean coasts.
