Where to look

Go down to the beach at low water and look at the pools at the foot of the arches. If you walk to the next beaches, watch the time, because the shore is flat and the water returns fast.

What you can find

anemones, crabs, barnacles, limpets, seaweeds

What to do: wildlife watching

Shellfish and sanitary status: In Galicia, shellfish gathering (marisqueo) is reserved for licensed professionals, and amateur gathering is treated as poaching. The beach is also a natural monument, so take nothing.

Rules and safety

In peak season, access needs a free booking on the Xunta de Galicia website; check the current dates. It is a natural monument: do not take animals or seaweed. Leave before the flood.

About the place

As Catedrais near Ribadeo is famous for rock arches and caves that you only see at low tide. The beach is a natural monument. On a spring low tide you can walk along the sand to the neighbouring beaches.
