Where to look

Search after winter storms from the east, in the shingle along the high-tide line, walking south towards Dunwich.

Wind and waves work best from: E, NE, SE.

Local rules

Picking up small, loose finds for your own use is usually tolerated. Some councils ban removing shingle and stones from the beach. There is a nature reserve behind the beach, and in summer bird nesting areas on the shingle may be fenced off.
