See the pre-saleWhere to look
Search in autumn and winter after storms, in bands of shells, seaweed and waterlogged wood. Amber often stays in the gullies behind the high sandbanks, far from the shore.
Wind and waves work best from: W, NW, SW.
Local rules
The beach borders the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park: keep out of the marked bird protection zones. Check the tide table, because the flood fills the gullies between sandbanks quickly. White phosphorus was found here in 2014, so do not carry doubtful pieces in a pocket.
About the beach
Sankt Peter-Ording has one of the largest sandy beaches on the German North Sea coast. Guided amber hunts are run on the beach.
