See the pre-saleWhere to look
The sea throws up the most a few hours after the storm peak, once the waves start to drop. Walk along the fresh strandline, ideally early in the morning before others pass.
Wind and waves work best from: N, NW.
Local rules
Picking up amber by hand for your own use is legal in Poland. Do not climb or dig in the dunes.
Diving
Sandy seabed with sandbars running parallel to the shore. Amber gathers in the troughs between them, best in the window after a storm, once the waves have settled.
About the beach
The name Jantar means amber, and the village hosts the Amber Catching World Championships. It has a wide beach and a sandy seabed with several sandbars.
