See the pre-saleWhere to look
Search after storms from the north and north-east, in the strandline at the water’s edge. Amber is rare here; fossils are more likely.
Wind and waves work best from: N, NE, NW.
Local rules
The cliffs between Cromer and West Runton are unstable and protected for their rare invertebrates; do not dig into them or stand below them. Check tide times, because the tide can cut off the way back below the cliff.
About the beach
Cromer is on the north Norfolk coast, below soft cliffs. The cliffs west of the town belong to the Cromer Forest Bed and regularly expose fossils.
Do not miss the next window
The best windows last a few hours: after a storm, after rain, on a clear night with an active Sun. Sign up and we will email you when the index at your spots goes above 60.
