Where to watch

The sanctuary is on the promenade in Hel, near the harbour. Come for the feeding with a talk, held daily at 11:00 and 14:00, and in July and August also at 12:30 and 15:30. Look for wild seals around Hel only with binoculars from the beach, for example at the tip of the peninsula.

What you can see

grey seal

Best time: all year, feeding at 11:00 and 14:00

Rules

Tickets are sold at machines by the entrance, there are no reservations, and you may not bring food or animals inside. If you see a seal on a beach, do not approach or touch it, because it is a strictly protected species. Report it to WWF Poland's Blue Patrol on +48 795 536 009.

About the place

The seal sanctuary in Hel is run by the Marine Station of the Institute of Oceanography, University of Gdańsk. Seals found on beaches are treated here and young are raised, then returned to the Baltic. It is a sure way to see grey seals up close without disturbing wild animals.
