See the pre-saleWhere to look
Look for bilberries in older pine stands with moss, and for wild thyme and juniper on dry, open forest edges and dunes. Wild strawberries grow on felling sites and along tracks. Elder, nettle and yarrow keep to river valleys and village surroundings.
What grows here
bilberry, common juniper, wild thyme (breckland thyme), wild strawberry, yarrow, dandelion, dog rose (rosehip), stinging nettle, elder (elderflower, elderberry), wood sorrel
Habitats: extensive pine forest on sand with bilberry and heather, inland dunes, meadows in the Brda and Wda valleys
Rules
Picking plants is banned in Bory Tucholskie National Park and in nature reserves. In state forests you may pick for your own use, except in plantations under 4 m and places with a ban sign. Sandy pine forest dries quickly, and in summer the local forester can close the forest because of fire risk.
About the place
The Tuchola Forest is one of Poland's largest forest complexes, mostly pine on sand. It is bilberry, juniper and wild thyme country, with fewer meadow herbs. The Tuchola and Wda landscape parks lie nearby.
