See the pre-saleWhere to look
Look on hillsides where the forest is mixed, and at the edges of beech and spruce stands. Different species grow under beech than under pine, so walk through several forest types. After rain, start on slopes, which drain faster than hollows.
What grows here
penny bun / cep (prawdziwek), bay bolete (podgrzybek brunatny), chanterelle (kurka), birch bolete (koźlarz babka), slippery jack (maślak zwyczajny)
Forest: mixed and beech woodland and pine forest on glacial hills
Season: The season runs from July to October. You will find the most cep and bay boletes in the second half of August and in September.
Rules
A large part of Kaszuby lies in landscape parks, including Kashubian and Wdzydze. Picking mushrooms is banned in nature reserves, and signs mark the boundaries. Around the Tri-City (Trójmiasto) some forests have extra rules, so read the signs at the entrance.
About the forest
Kaszuby (Kashubia) is a hilly lake district west of Gdańsk with a lot of forest. Beside pine forest you will find beech, spruce and mixed woodland. Being close to the sea gives a fairly damp climate.
