Forest: pine and spruce on rocky hills above the Gulf of Bothnia
Season: July–September; peak in August.
Rules
Allemansrätten lets you pick mushrooms with no limit, also on private land, as long as you respect homes and crops. Skuleskogen National Park and the nature reserves have their own rules, so read the signs at the entrance. Leave protected species alone.
About the forest
The High Coast (Höga kusten) on the Gulf of Bothnia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the highest coastline in Sweden. Conifer forest on granite hills gives chanterelles and winter chanterelles from July. The season is shorter than in the south, but the forests are quiet.
