What grows here

penny bun / cep (prawdziwek), chanterelle (kurka), winter chanterelle (pieprznik trąbkowy), hedgehog mushroom (kolczak obłączasty), honey fungus (opieńka miodowa)

Forest: fir-spruce forest on the slopes of the Alpine foothills

Season: July–November; peak in September and October.

Rules

In the canton of Bern the limit is 2 kg per person per day and there are no closed days. Organised picking is banned, except for training walks. Picking is banned in nature reserves, and you can have your mushrooms checked at a mushroom control point (Pilzkontrolle).

About the forest

The Emmental is a hilly region east of Bern, where fir and spruce cover the steep slopes between meadows. Rainfall is high and the forests are damp. It is an easy mushroom region with a good path network.
