Where to stand
Pick an open meadow at the edge of the village, away from the street lamps. For meteor showers you do not need a low horizon, what matters is a dark sky overhead. Park in a marked car park, not on the verge of a narrow road.
Horizon
The San valley and low hills; from an open meadow you see almost the whole sky
Sky darkness (Bortle scale): 3
Rules
Bears live in the Bieszczady, so after dark stay on roads and open fields near the village and do not go into the forest. Trails in Bieszczady National Park are meant for daytime walking, so check the park rules.
About the spot
Lutowiska lies in the Bieszczady Starry Sky Park, set up in 2013. The park covers Bieszczady National Park and the San Valley and Cisna-Wetlina landscape parks. It is one of the darkest corners of Poland, and Lutowiska hosts public sky shows.
