Where to look

Walk towards Śliwin and watch the gravel bands after a storm and the loose debris at the foot of fresh slumps. The best spots are where the waves have left only stones because the sand has moved on.

What you can find

belemnites, sea urchins in flint, sponges in flint, rocks with corals

Best wind: N, NW

Rules and safety

The stretch was proposed for protection as a natural monument of inanimate nature. Check the status with RDOŚ in Szczecin. Do not dig into the cliff. Take care when entering the water after storms: in 2009 a wave uncovered concrete posts with bars sticking out at Rewal, the remains of old shore defences.

About the cliff

The cliff at Rewal and nearby Śliwin is up to about 17 m high. Its lower part holds glacial till with pieces of older bedrock, including Cretaceous claystones at Śliwin. This is a local source of Cretaceous material, on top of what the ice sheet brought from Scandinavia and the Baltic seabed.

Do not miss the next window

The best windows last a few hours: after a storm, after rain, on a clear night with an active Sun. Sign up and we will email you when the index at your spots goes above 60.
