Where to look

Walk towards Łukęcin and watch the gravel bands high on the beach after a storm from the north. You may find Jurassic limestone as single pebbles, but do not count on it. It is rare.

What you can find

Jurassic limestones with corals, ammonites (rare), sea urchins in flint

Best wind: N, NW

Rules and safety

The quarry with the Jurassic raft is not a place to dig. We do not know its current status, so do not enter without checking with the municipal office or RDOŚ in Szczecin. On the beach, pick up only loose finds. Do not dig into the dunes.

About the cliff

In the forest behind Dziwnówek there is an old quarry called Kalkberg with a Jurassic limestone raft. It holds Upper Jurassic limestones with corals, bivalves, brachiopods, crinoids and ammonites. The beach itself is low here, with no cliff, so fossils turn up rarely and only after a strong storm.

Do not miss the next window

The best windows last a few hours: after a storm, after rain, on a clear night with an active Sun. Sign up and we will email you when the index at your spots goes above 60.
