Where to stand

Stand on the beach below the cliff or on the path by the Gwiazda Północy (North Star) obelisk and look north, out to sea. Rozewie lighthouse is about 1.5 km to the east and its beam can drift into your frame, so walk a few hundred metres west. Come in daylight first and check how people get down to the beach.

View towards the pole

Open sea across the whole northern half of the sky, from west to east

Sky darkness (Bortle scale): 5

Rules and safety

The cliff is eroding, so keep away from the edge and stay on the beach or a paved path after dark. Do not climb the slope or the dunes outside the marked crossings.

About the spot

Jastrzębia Góra sits on the northernmost stretch of the Polish coast, at about 54.83° N. According to National Geographic Polska, the northernmost point of the country is here and not at Rozewie. That matters for aurora, because in weaker storms you only see it just above the northern horizon.
