Rules and closures
Collecting sheds is banned on all public land west of I-25 from January 1 to April 30 (Colorado Parks and Wildlife). Enter private land only with the owner's permission.
About the area
Meeker sits next to the White River elk herd, one of the largest in North America. The White River valleys are also mule deer winter range. There is plenty of BLM land and national forest around.
